    Terry Bradshaw: biography

Terry Bradshaw is the iconic figure in the world of American football: he had 14 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and brought the team numerous prizes in prestigious contests. After retirement, the former QB found himself as a TV analyst, actor, and businessman.

    Childhood and youth

The would-be athlete was born in fall 1948 in Louisiana. The boy’s father, William, served in the US Navy and got a high position in the Riley Beaird Company management; he joined the Southern Baptist church. Terry was the second among three kids; his brothers’ names were Gary and Craig.

    Young Terry Bradshaw

Young Bradshaw went to Woodlawn High School and helped its football team reach the final of the AAA state championship.

    Football career

By the time Terry entered Louisiana Tech University in 1966, he was known as one of the most promising athletes. He did meet everybody’s expectations and showed impressive stats; the NCAA named him their number one player.

    The football player Terry Bradshaw

The 1970 draft turned over a new leaf in Bradshaw’s football life: the Pittsburgh Steelers selected him. Although he did not succeed at once and had to wait for the whole rookie season to be given the starting position, Terry finally got in the groove. Along with the team’s “Steel Curtain” defensive strategy, he was a considerable force; the famous “Immaculate Reception” game (1972) was one of the most splendid events in his career.

When the moment was critical, the athlete was there to win. In 1974, he gained the decisive points in the match against the Oakland Raiders and made the Steelers the AFC Champion; the same year, he performed significant passes against the Minnesota Vikings, which brought the Super Bowl triumph.

    Broadcasting career

When the former athlete retired in summer 1984, he did not spend much time unemployed: he signed an agreement with the CBS channel and began to work as an analyst. In the 1990s, he contributed to The NFL Today and collaborated with Greg Gumbel.

Football lovers also know Bradshaw for his Fox NFL Sunday projects: Ten Yards with TB and The Terry Awards. He was also invited to the Digi-Bowl specials in 2001-2002.

    Television and film career

Bradshaw feels just as natural in front of a camera as on a football field. The audience knows him for various commercials and cameo parts in TV shows: Everybody Loves Raymond, The League, and The Larry Sanders Show, as well as the comedies Married... with Children and Brotherly Love.

The actor appeared in movies, too: Hooper (1978), The Cannonball Run (1980), The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. (1994). Aging has not affected Bradshaw’s agility: for example, fans could see their favorite in the reality show Better Late Than Never in 2016 and 2018.

Apart from acting, Bradshaw has applied his artistic talents to music; his discography consists of several albums and singles. The 1976 track “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” reached the 17th position in Billboard’s Hot Country Songs.

    Personal life

Bradshaw has been married four times. In 1972, the young man married Miss Teenage America Melissa Babish, but the couple spent only a year together. The next union lasted longer: the figure skater JoJo Starbuck was Terry’s wife from 1976 to 1983.

The former footballer and his third wife, the lawyer Charla Hopkins, had two children together: Rachel and Erin. However, the daughters did not prevent them from divorce.

Since 2014, Terry Bradshaw has been married to Tammy. Just like her husband, the woman had had several marriages before; the spouses had known each other for 15 years before they tied the knot.

    Present days

Nowadays, Terry Bradshaw actively participates in various projects and events. The man has recently announced he was starting a business and presented the bourbon brand in February 2020. In the same period, the former coach Jimmy Johnson asked to have two presenters for his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction: his colleague Troy Aikman and Bradshaw.
