Marine Stoessel is a young actress and singer who has become the icon for Argentinian teenagers. She played the main character in the youth series Violetta and participated in voicing Monsters University. In 2018, she presented her second studio album Quiero Volver.
Childhood and youth
Martina Stoessel was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on March 21, 1997. She became the second child in the family: her brother, Francisco, was a year older. The girl’s father worked as a producer and a director of the dancing show Baila Conmigo Paraguay. Perhaps, it contributed to Martina’s career choice.
From early childhood, the girl had been preparing for the artist’s career: she learned how to play the piano and studied the music theater. Martina attended two private schools, Colegio San Marcos and Colegio Martín y Omar de Isidro, where the classes were given in two languages.
Cinematography and music
At the age of ten, Martina debuted on TV: she played Fito Bernardi's young assistant in the first season of the popular Argentinian series for children and teens Patito Feo. Later, she appeared in the same series in a small flashback episode.
In 2011, the young woman recorded her first track, the Spanish version of Shannon Sanders’s “The Glow.” The song entitled "Tu Resplandor” was included in Disney Princess: Fairy Tale Songs.
Soon, Martina Stoessel gained the lead role in the youth series Violetta. It was shot in Argentina; Disney Channel broadcast it in 2012-2014. Three years of work brought 250 episodes. Martina performed the song “En Mi Mundo” that was included in the series. In spring 2012, before the first season was premiered, Disney official website in Latin America presented the music video under the same title.
Martina’s character, Violetta Castillo, is a bright and smart girl who lost her mother in her childhood. Together with her father, she went to Europe and came back to Buenos Aires later. Violetta likes to sing and dreams of a singing career, yet she has to hide her plans because her father is unlikely to approve of them. The young woman learns how to sing and dance secretly. She cannot choose between two guys and describes her life in a diary.
The young Italian actress and singer Lodovica Comello played Francesca. In 2013, the artists had the chance to collaborate again: they worked on the animated movie Monsters University. Martina voiced Carrie Williams, and Lodovica gave her voice to Britney Davis.
In 2016, Martina starred in Tini: The Movie, the sequel of Violetta. This music movie was made in Argentina. The main character moves to Italy where she finds friends and begins a new life.
The same year, Stoessel presented her first album, Tini, that included the music from Tini: The Movie. In 2014, Martina gave a free concert in Buenos Aires; some 250 thousand people were present. The singer’s brother worked as a DJ and warmed up the audience. Martina’s best friend, Mercedes Lambrea, sang with her.
The actress lives with her parents and brother in San Isidro, the suburbs of Buenos Aires. She is fluent in Spanish, Italian, and English. Martina has the official Instagram and Twitter pages where many fans learn the recent news about their favorite.
Martina’s height is 165 cm.; her weight is 54 kg. The actress likes Coca-Cola and lemonade and prefers green and purple colors. Angelina Jolie is Martina’s favorite actress. When the young woman was a school student, she loved History.
Martina has a tattoo on her right wrist: “All You Need Is Love.” She began to experiment with her appearances early; today, the artist cannot imagine her life without make-up.
The Argentinian actress Mercedes Lambre is Martina’s best friend. They co-starred in the series Violetta: Mercedes personified Ludmilla Ferro, the glamorous blonde and Violetta’s worst enemy who always puts a spoke in her wheels and devises evil plans.
The Argentinian actor Peter Lanzani became the young woman’s first love. The couple began to see each other in 2013; they even performed together. Two years later, they broke up. The primary disagreement started in 2014: the actress’s mother was said to have seen the man with another girl, and the Stoessels had a conflict with Peter. As it turned out, that girl was his sister. Martina and Peter made it up for a while, yet the romance lasted for several months only.
In 2016, the actress started dating Pepe Barroso Junior, a Spanish soccer player. They spent together a year and split up at the beginning of 2018. Today, Martina is single; she has no children.
Rumors had it the actress was pregnant from Jorge Blanco, her colleague in Violetta who played León Vargas, the main character’s lover. However, it was not true. Martina told the journalist who interviewed her directly: she saw Jorge as a good friend and a nice guy, but she did not like him as a man, so there was no affair.
There were also some rumors among the actress’s fans and in the media that the young woman had been diagnosed with anorexia not long before the series Violetta: her health was presumably in danger because of her tense relationships with classmates and the severe stress she had at school. However, the artist denied the speculations. According to Martina, her family is genetically thin, and she has never had any issues related to food. Indeed, the photos of Martina where she is wearing a swimsuit prove that the rumors have nothing to do with the reality.
In May 2017, Martina began to work on the second album; in October, she presented the single “Te Quiero Más” recorded with the Venezuelan singer Nacho. Another single, “Princesa,” was created with the Columbian musician Karol G.
In December 2017, Martina played herself in an episode of the TV series Las Estrellas.
Summer 2018 was marked with two songs created with the folk group Morat and the singer Sebastián Yatra. All these tracks were included in the new album, Quiero Volver, that came out in October 2018.
