Anna Popplewell: biography
Actors’ fate works in mysterious ways. Some artists become famous for one role, and then fiercely try to get rid of the associations with this character, while others are meant to play titled persons. Anna Popplewell, who played Susan Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia film series, participated in the shooting of a short film about the last days of the Romanov Family in 2017 and appeared as the oldest daughter, Princess Olga.
Childhood and youth
None of Anna Katherine’s relatives was passionate or at least somehow connected with theatre. It is safe to say that they began to discover the art world after the birth of the oldest of three children. Her father and grandfather worked as judges, the mother was a doctor, and her uncle is a former famous professional cricketer. The girl was born on December 16, 1988, and she was a modest and shy child.
The parents wanted to help their daughter to get rid of the fear of communication with people and enrolled her in the drama class. They were amazed to see that when Anna grew up, acting became her vocation. By the way, the younger brother and sister have followed in her footsteps and tried their hands at acting. Nowadays, Freddie works as an attorney, and Lulu is a stand-up comedian.
While playing in the fantasy series The Chronicles of Narnia, the girl was completing her final year in North London Collegiate School. She had to do homework, constantly moving, and learn with a private tutor after a hard shooting day. In the end, she missed part of the final exams. But the teachers helped the talented girl a lot; they supported and visited her on the film set.
It bore fruit because she had excellent makes and could enter the famous Oxford University. In 2010 the girl received a bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature. However, she later began studying psychology paying significant attention to education.
Popplewell does not miss the opportunity to gain new knowledge. She knows sign language, can administer first aid, and plays three musical instruments: cello, piano, and guitar.
At the age of nine, she made her first television appearance, and after her debut, she played roles every year. After The Little Vampire, the girl was showered with invitations to TV shows. In the film about Jan Vermeer's masterpiece, she could collaborate with Hollywood stars. Anna Popplewell gained recognition thanks to the movie about the magical another world, directed by Andrew Adamson, in which Anna played one of the leading female roles.
According to Popplewell, when the creators shot The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (starring Ben Barnes), she faced the most dangerous moment in her acting career. In the story, Susan gets hit by a horse, and the actress was lying on her back, while the hoofs of galloping horses were close to her face.
The final part of the trilogy faced profound changes. They replaced the director, and the faithless princess became a supportive character. When she was a guest star at the Dragon Con – 2018, the host asked Anna:
“Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen of Narnia.”
She replied jokingly:
"I always say that at Starbucks."
Later, Anna appeared in the film adaptation of the novel by Aldous Huxley and a computer game, and in 2010 she got a role in Reign. At first, the young woman did not love the character of Lady Lola; she seemed incomprehensible and often left Anna asking questions. She also took a dim view of the obligatory curling of hair, but soon got used to Mary Stewart’s favorite and already felt uncomfortable without curly hair.
Due to a busy working schedule, actors often do not have time for personal life. So the slim blue-eyed brunette has a similar life. The media spread rumors about the relationship with her colleagues in The Little Vampire, Rollo Weeks, and in The Chronicles of Narnia film series, Skandar Keynes. However, these rumors remained unconfirmed.
It was also reported that for two years the young woman dated William Moseley, who played in the saga about Peter Pevensie. But experts believe that this information is not correct since the couple stated in numerous interviews that they were just friends.
On May 14, 2016, Anna became the wife of Sam Caird who also worked in the theater and played in his brother's short films. They celebrated the wedding and invited relatives and close friends, and musical group Motown Supreme performed at their reception. Later, the husband and wife expressed their gratitude to the singers on the band’s Facebook page, leaving an enthusiastic review. The wedding took place in one of the old temples of London. The couple has no children.

Olga Mishina, administrator of the Russian group, VKontakte, managed to talk with the celebrity at the Medieval Fantasy Con – 2018. Anna was delighted with the presented nested Russian doll and later recorded a short video for her Russian fans.
She is a friend of English designer Elliott James Frieze and has even worked as a model. She has won two Camie Awards.
Although even 5-year-old children recognize her in the store and wonder why the ancient Queen goes shopping, she does not like social media, and her pictures appear on the pages of friends or in fan groups. For example, on Instagram and Facebook, along with photo shoots and the images of official events, there are personal photos and the pics of the celebrity without makeup.
“I don’t want to put too much of my soul on the Internet,” she explains her decision.
By the way, Anna prefers to demonstrate gorgeous outfits, rarely appearing nude. It is very difficult to find the photos, depicting her in a bikini.
